Ministry urges to delay further cut of duty-free import threshold

MOSCOW, Apr 9 (PRIME) – Reduction of the duty-free import threshold for online purchases should be delayed at least till the middle of 2021 because of the current situation, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov said on Thursday, as quoted in a government statement after a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“At present the main task is to create necessary infrastructure to facilitate the procedures of cross-border e-commerce,” Sazanov said.

Media reported earlier that the Finance Ministry proposed to cut the threshold further to 100 euros from July 1, to 50 euros from 2021, and to 20 euros from 2022.

The threshold was cut to 200 euros from January 1 from 500 euros with the total weight of 31 kilograms.
